An updated classic on the UES
Baker Street Irregulars’ location has a fascinating history. In 1965, this corner spot became the first TGI Friday’s in America. It was purchased with the intent to update and revitalize the space, by a new owner who was just breaking into the industry. Before opening the bar, he’d been working as a perfume salesman. However, he decided it was time for a change, and America agreed–now, TGI Friday’s is a popular chain across many states.
The new owner of Baker Street Irregulars has a similar story. After a career on Wall Street, he decided to do something different and unexpected. He became a bar owner with the goal of revitalizing a space that’s been a local favorite for decades. At Baker Street Irregulars, you’ll find a curious mix of old and new. We’re proud of our rich history, but being irregular also means we like to put a new twist on the old standbys.
Unexpected menu twists
When you visit a pub, what do you expect from the menu? There’s a lot of subpar pub food out there. Often, the best you can hope for is some basic comfort food to go with your drinks.
